I finally accepted that I won’t be able to qualify with my holster of choice. I bought a tactical belt and OTW holster a while back but put off trying it out. Last night I finally did. Drawing from it didn’t feel natural or intuitive and it’s super bulky. Yes, I know I need more instruction and a ton of practice, but it was still a bummer.
But today, I had two wins.
Win #1 – Some mistook me for law enforcement.
Today at the range, an employee asked me if I worked in law enforcement shortly after I walked in. I was shocked! I was also really curious as to what made him think that. He said it was the way I carried myself. Y’all, confidence is everything!!! This compliment made my day, week, and month.
Win #2 – I learned to shoot with one hand.
Updated October 18, 2024: Apparently, I got some misinformation. I was told that for the qual I’d have to shoot with both my dominant hand and my non-dominant hand. A month after learning to do this, I found out that this is not part of the ccw range qual. But hey, I learned a new skill that hopefully, I’ll never need to use.
But overall, it was a good day and I’ll take the two wins.
